Surviving members Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones, with the addition of John Bonham's son Jason on drums, gave a stirring performance at the O2 Arena last night, and, according to friends of mine who were there, the guitar was crisp and accurate, the vocals were shamanic, cruel, and kind, and the drums resounded like Bonham was roaring from beyond the grave; after all, who can ever forget that half-second lag Bonham pioneered, that steady pounding crescendo of raw force that raced along Page's guitar sound, culminating in multiple tangents of feedback and thunder, as Led Zep exploded into innumerable climaxes?
